Rooted in Our Community
SPDocs opened its doors in 1988 when Dr. Hackett and Dr. Schmidlein - married physicians who share a passion for whole-family wellness - set up a small office in the old Arnold post-office building. By 1992 the practice had outgrown its first home and moved to our current Severna Park location. In 1999, Dr. Ginsburg joined the team, bringing fresh expertise and the same commitment to compassionate, personalized care.
Over three decades later we’re caring for second- and even third-generation patients from Severna Park, Arnold, Annapolis, and across Anne Arundel County. Many children who once saw Dr. Hackett and Dr. Ginsburg now bring their own kids to SPDocs, while their parents and grandparents continue their care with Dr. Schmidlein. It’s the truest sign that our “family for life” philosophy works.

Meet Our Pediatric Team
Dr. Faith Hackett
Dr. Hackett grew up in New Jersey with seven brothers and sisters and always wanted to be a pediatrician. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University undergraduate, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School, and completed her pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. She is married to Dr. Jeffrey Schmidlein and has two grown children, PJ and Nicky. She enjoys cooking and hiking, preferably with family and friends.
Dr. Jacalyn Ginsburg
Dr. Ginsburg attended undergrad at Connecticut College. She studied medicine at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed a three year pediatric residency at North Shore University Hospital – Cornell Medical College, and then returned to her native Maryland. She joined Dr. Hackett in practice in 1999. She lives in Annapolis with her husband, has two sons, Ted and Adam, and enjoys being outside, in the water and on the water.
Our physicians combine warmth and gentleness with clear, straightforward communication. A touch of playfulness helps put kids at ease, yet we always take every concern seriously. During each visit we explain diagnoses and treatment plans in plain language, because when families truly understand what’s happening - and why - they’re empowered to make the best decisions for their child’s health. Recognizing that every family’s circumstances are unique, we partner with parents to tailor care and support each child’s overall well-being.
